Be Awesome

I have always thought (or: been told) that I needed to do something more. You know what I'm getting at, so I am not going to get all mushy and use words that will excite your emotions. No, I'd rather just get to where metal meets meat: I wanted to be awesome.
But don't we all? And, can't we all? After everything else melts away, we just want to be awesome. We find new ways to measure (or: monetize) what our idea of "awesome" is, and often, our society contributes a majority (or: all) of what we think of as "awesome."

But, as we grow (or: oh, how they grow up so fast!) learn new things about our universe, and we inevitably find something that we know to be awesome that our society does not yet fully agree with.

So there you are (being you). You are awesome already. You are a part of the universe and thinking one at that. But even though you are already awesome, I bet you are always told to be the next X (or get the next Y (or feel the next Z)). Which, if those are your things, go get 'em bro/babe! But if they aren't, that's o.k. too.

That last part is what is missing most of the time in our heavily socialized culture.

Do you. Just Be Awesome.

That's the reason why I wanted to start this whole thing. I wanted to start it so I could say that to you. So that I could say it to myself. I am just like you. I am a skeptic. I always think things could be bullshit, and I always assume that things will fail, so for me to believe that I myself was Awesome, that was not making it through the filters (or: grinders, crushers and armed tripods that talk nicely).

But I figured it out. I finally learned that you just Be Awesome. For me, being awesome comes down to a few simple things (note: this one is mine, find your own!) work hard, play often, think deeply, help others, carry conversation, allow debate, act with love, protect the innocent, cooperate equally.

So this blog and this website, this youtube channel, this Twitter are all a part of me being awesome.

This is my way. Now find your own, and walk beside me if you wish.
